I really follow the news quite closely, although in these days of the information age you can choose your source rather than just get it all from the television or from newspapers.

I have found YouTube to be a great place to get a broader perspective on the news. The pure volume and choice can be daunting though and it comes down to the search terms you use as well as getting good leads from friends. This video was one of those links in the email that opened up a new world. I found this beautiful woman to be both intellectually sharp and socially brave. Her name is Naomi Wolf. She became well know after her book, “The Beauty Myth” hit the best seller list. Read more about Naomi Wolf on Wikipedia.

In this 20 minute presentation she outlines the 10 steps that a would-be dictator (and regime) take to break down an open society. In her new book, “The End of America: A Letter of Warning to a Young Patriot” she outlines the steps and more.

Yes, there is a blue-print for fascism and it’s one that has been refined and developed by a select group of dictators and despots. I don’t need to list them but as we observe the changes going in America many of us around the world, including us Aussies still care about what happens to the old US of A.

I guess we tend to go about our lives and never think that this freedom that we take for granted in the western world could ever be taken away. It was a shock for example to find out that Germany in the 1930s was so progressive and diverse as to be actually vulnerable.
Vulnerable like we all are unless we collectively educate ourselves and share the truth as a valuable commodity that emancipates us from ignorance and complacency.

So here we go.
